My Journey

It's never comfortable talking about embarrassing symptoms like bloating, constipation, and diarrhoea. I hope that by sharing my story, I can inspire you to seek help for yourself and find freedom from IBS too!

For me, it all started in my third year of full-time study at university. The pressure was on. Nutritional biochemistry, pathophysiology, and medical nutrition therapy were among the courses and the content was full-on. Never I had imagined that I needed to do so much science to become a dietitian. I was stressed out to the max trying to balance study, work, relationships, and social life.

I had it all... it started with bloating, then wind, a sluggish bowel and phases of urgency too. I was stressed, anxious, eating poorly, not exercising, and sleeping less than I should have been.

For the rest of my degree and even through the job application process, I was having flares of symptoms and I knew I had to take control. I spoke with my GP and we had done all of the appropriate investigations. Until we came to the conclusion. I had IBS.

Fast forward to now. I still have a sensitive stomach, it's not a condition that has a cure. But, I confidently manage my symptoms. I no longer skip social occasions, waste unreasonable amounts of money on supplements and know my exact triggers. It has become my absolute mission to help as many women suffering with IBS too.
